A black metal candle lantern with glass panels and a hanging handle, 7.5cm square and 16cm tall, in a vintage storm-lantern shape. The glass is what separates it from the openwork lanterns in this range, and the size decides how it should be used.
Glazed sides shelter the flame, so this is the lantern that stays lit on a terrace when a pierced one would blow out. It also gives an even, contained glow rather than a projected pattern — a pool of light rather than shapes on the wall. Both are worth having; they do opposite jobs.
At 16cm it is deliberately small, and a single one on a large table will look lost. This shape is made to be repeated: three or five along a table, a run of them on a low wall, or several hung at staggered heights. Used in numbers it becomes a line of light rather than an object — a natural fit for weddings and outdoor dinners.

As a general rule: dust dry rather than wet with a soft cloth, avoid abrasive cleaners and solvents, keep pieces out of prolonged direct sunlight, and wipe up spills promptly.
